Statistical Observation for the admitted Patients and Mortality of In-Patients in Pediatric Ward of Incheon Christian Hospital

Abstract
Statistical analysis for admitted patients and mortality of in-patients in pediatric ward of Incheon Christian Hospital during past 6 years from 1968 to 1973 was reviewed.
We have received following results.
1. The number of patients were gradually increased in spite of mortality was gradually decreased.
2. According to age, infants below one year of age comprised 39.8% of all cases and over the half of expired patients were below the one year of age (52.8%)in pediatric ward.
3. Most frequent diseases in pediatric age group were bronchitis and pneumonia(29.8%), gast-roenteritis (18.3%), prematurity (6.15vo), tuberculosis (5.1%) and meningitis (4.9%).
4. Most fatal diseases were neonatal tetanus (46.8%), encephalitis (32.6%), poliomylitis (18.85v.) and septicemia (18.3%).
5. Causes of death by age were as follow.
a) in the neonatal period,neonatal tetanus was the most frequent (44.8%), and next were prematurity (31.39vo), septicemia (7.8%), bronchitis and pneumonia (4.01o), and birth trauma (2.6%).
b) In the age of one month to twelvemonths, bronchitis and pneumonia were the most frequent (44.8%), and next were tuberculosis (19. 1%), gastroenteritis (8.5%), heart diseases (8.5%), and meningitis (8.5%).
c) In the age of one years to six years, bronchitis and pneumonia were the most frequent (25. 0%), and next were gastroenteritis (23. 1%), meningitis (12.3%), encephalitis (9. 1%) and heart diseases (8.0%).
d) In the age of six years to twelve years, tuberculosis was the most frequent (21.7%), and next were heart diseaes (16.2%), encephalitis (13.5%) and meningitis (10.8%).
e) In the age of twelve years to fifteen years, tuberculosis was the most frequent (33.3%), and next were meningitis (27.7%) and bronchitis and pneumonia (11.1%).
6. 50.5% of expired cases of in-patients were died within 24 hours after admission and most of them were too late to give proper cares.
